I spy with my little eye something beginning with "Brrrm! Brrrm!"

William Bee's fabulous book "And the cars go..." is just our cup of tea. I remember we spied it on one of the posters that we got in a lovely Walker Books party package over the summer when we took part in the Walker Books Picnic Blog Tour - and fell in love with it purely based on that racing car and driver on the cover.

Delving into the book, it's like it was written and illustrated for us. The story spans a traffic jam, as a motorcycle cop tries to get to the end of the queue of cars, trucks, buses, tractors, station wagons and motorbikes to find out what on earth is causing the hold up.

Each vehicle (and its occupants) makes its own noises, making this a brilliant read-aloud book for younger children. But it's also a fantastic exquisitely detailed book for car and truck nuts like Charlotte and I. We really loved the level of attention that goes into William's illustrations, as well as his fab bounce-along stories.

William Bee is also the genius behind "And the train goes..." so if steam is more your thing, don't forget to look out for that one!

Charlotte's best bit: The naughty kids on the school bus, who are glad to be stuck in traffic!

Daddy's Favourite bit: Loved that funky uber-cool 70s "Woody Wagon" style station wagon. Groovy, cat!
