Hoot Owl Master of Disguise by Sean Taylor and Jean Jullien (Walker Books)

This book is, quite literally, a hoot!
"Hoot Owl - Master of Disguise" brings together two of our current most fave children's book talents. Written by Sean Taylor and illustrated by Jean Jullien, Hoot Owl is the story of a very hungry owl.

He's quick witted, stealthy and hides in the dark - but he has a trick up his sleeve does Hoot. He is a master of disguise and when he spots the forest animals innocently going about their business, it's time for Hoot to leap into action.

But cute fluffy animals don't just stand around waiting to be devoured. Hoot realises that even with the most amazing disguises, those animals are very hard to catch!

Finally Hoot Owl hatches the ultimate plan to snare a more static target (which also happens to be Charlotte's favourite dinner 'prey' too!)

What a delicious little book, satisfying from start to finish as Hoot Owl slowly zooms in on his ultimate victim! We love the bold graphical illustrations and the use of repetition to build up the tension nicely between each encounter. A brilliant story to read before your little owlets tuck themselves up in bed.

Charlotte's best bit: Hoot Owl disguised as...a birdbath? OK then!

Daddy's favourite bit: Love the humour in this and the way Hoot Owl is such a determined chap. Also love the deeply satisfying pay off at the end (which we won't spoil for you)
