Danny McGee Drinks the Sea by Andy Stanton and Neal Layton (Hodder Children's Books)

Do stop by and listen to our song of woe. We're here in the dark, and my typing is slow. It's cold dark and wet, and difficult to see. For we find ourselves trapped inside Danny McGee...!
The Wi Fi isn't great, there's no coffee or tea.
And my socks are a tad wet from all of this sea.
This plucky young chap had an appetite so huge.
He drank down the ocean in one great deluge.
Egged on by his sister, that's Frannie McGee
Young Danny didn't stop at just drinking the sea.
He wolfed down the forests, the mountains and sands.
He scoffed down a weather girl, the cities, the lands.
A poor little cat who was just drinking tea...
What a naughty wee chap, that there Danny McGee!

So along with author Andy, and artist named Neal...
We're trapped in this place, it just makes us squeal!
Though there is a neat twist, that will fill you with glee...
...when you find out what happens to Danny McGee :)

We loved this rhyming slice of brilliant silliness and surreality. Andy (Mr Gum) Stanton and Neal Layton have teamed up to fabulous effect, creating a future read-aloud classic.

Charlotte's favourite bit: The poor bemused cat (who was just drinking tea!)

Daddy's favourite bit: So much fun to read aloud, the rhyming and rhythm of this one are perfect, Neal's illustrations are brilliantly wibbly as usual, it's a corker in fact!
