Children's Illustrated Thesaurus (Dorling Kindersley Publishing)

DK's range of books set such high standards for non-fiction titles that we know we're always in for a treat with any new books they add to their range...
DK's "Children's Illustrated Thesaurus" comes at just the right time, as Charlotte gets more and more homework based around learning the meanings of words and how they might fit into an everyday sentence.

Needless to say, having a gloriously presented hard back large format book to dip into instead of mum and dad's quite ancient old pocket dictionaries and thesauruses is a real boon to Charlotte. Now she has her own book full of words and phrases - and some utterly fab presentation too.

Categorised alphabetically with easy page side and page top tabs to make sure you can quickly flick to the right section, the Children's Illustrated Thesaurus is perfect for mini wordsmiths who want to expand their vocabulary but just can't quite find the right word they're looking for...

Great little illustrations and photos help break up the text and draw you right in with words grouped by subjects and commonality.
We've often wondered whether books like this can still stand the test of time as more and more kids just dive onto the internet to do their homework but we still find we prefer letting Charlotte loose with reference books rather than just sitting her down in front of a laptop or tablet (and with books this fab, quite often we'll find her just reading them for fun too!)

All the ways to laugh. We love the word "Guffaw"
"Children's Illustrated Thesaurus" published by Dorling Kindersley is out today (kindly supplied for review).
