Centipede's 100 Shoes by Tony Ross (Andersen Children's Books)
It seems like we buy Charlotte new shoes about every fortnight, but imagine what it would be like if you had to buy your little one 100 shoes at a time?
Centipede is grumpy because his feet constantly hurt, so Mummy Centipede decides it's time to take him to get his first pair - er make that 50 pairs - of shoes fitted.
As you can imagine, it takes a little while to sort out a Centipede's footwear but can you also imagine how long it takes to put them on in the morning, and what happens if they pinch?
We loved this giggle-out-loud book, told in Tony Ross's inimitable style. Children will love all the various bugs and characters, parents will knowingly grin at the whole fuss and bother surrounding shoe shopping (which is a whole lot less fun when you're shopping for your children than for yourself).
Charlotte's best bit: Poor Centipede having to lace up 100 shoes. Why oh why didn't mummy buy slip-ons!
Daddy's favourite bit: Is there no end to Tony Ross's talents? He seems to be able to conjure cool characters up out of nowhere and Centipede is no exception.
