"Hilda and the Troll" (previously 'Hildafolk') by Luke Pearson. Utterly captivating! |
Thanks to Flying Eye Books and Bounce Marketing, we've been taking a look at two of the reissued "Hilda" books in their new and utterly beautiful bindings. Featuring extra content and a larger page format than previous editions, these books (
"Hildafolk" - now renamed "Hilda and the Troll" and
"Hilda and the Midnight Giant" pulled off a double "Book of the Week" here at ReadItDaddy when we originally reviewed them a while back.
It's really not hard to see why is it...

Camping. Only any fun in a complete rainstorm! |
Hilda is the gutsy and inquisitive heroine of Luke Pearson's utterly perfect comicbook trio. Echoing shades of Tove Jansson's "Moomins", Hilda's adventures are brilliant for young and old alike.

Tiny elf-vandals are only the start. How about mountain-sized lonely giants? |
I can't believe we haven't got round to reading the third book "Hilda and the Bird Parade" yet but if these newly issued Flying Eye versions are anything to go by, it'll be worth hanging on for a while to enjoy them in their new and brilliant book formats. These books are huge and we didn't think there'd be any possible justification for buying them all over again if you already own the Nobrow Press versions - but think again. Additional content (including an amazing Giant Identification Spread at the back of "Midnight Giant") really makes them worth grabbing.
