More Book Island loveliness, this time we're feeling snacky - and a packet of crisps and a Twix just won't do. We want something more substantial and thankfully we know just the little fellah to help.
Sammy's Skyscraper Sandwich. We're going to need a bigger train! |
Sammy, a hungry little boy, decides to create the ultimate snack. gathering ingredients that sound utterly and completely mouth-watering as you read this book aloud to your little ones, Sammy embarks on a grand design plan - to build a skyscraper sandwich.
With bacon, and cheese and anchovies and eggs and cucumber, tomatoes, chocolate spread - you name it, Sammy gathers it to add to the teetering tottering pile as soon it grows taller than the kitchen ceiling, taller than the bedrooms - and through the skylight at the top of the house.
Sammy's masterwork is soon complete. But sometimes a child's eyes can be bigger than their belly (how we love that phrase at home!) So what on earth can you do with the world's biggest sandwich once it's complete? We know a few feathered friends who might have an answer...
In the grand tradition of fabulous crazy books like "The Giant Jam Sandwich" and "The Hundred Decker Bus" this is a fabulous fun story with brilliant illustrations full of fun and detail. Really making me hungry just thinking about Sammy's sandwich!
