It's Happy Publication Day on Thursday 5th June for a book that has been a lovely little read over the past few weeks. We've been fortunate enough to be included in Walker's fabulous Blog Tour to celebrate Petr Horacek's latest brilliant work. Petr is a master of story-weaving, intricately pulling together wonderful characters and situations into the most vibrant and timeless tales.
"The Mouse Who Ate The Moon" is no exception. If you're familiar with Petr's brilliant "A New House for Mouse" then you'll love Mouse's new adventure as she stares wistfully up at the big golden moon at night, from the comfort of her warm burrow. She would love to know what the moon is actually like, and one day she wakes up in the morning, surprised to find that a huge piece of the moon appears to have dropped right outside her front door.
It looks amazing. It smells...delicious! Dare Mouse take the tiniest little nibble out of it to see if it tastes as good as it smells?
One nibble turns to a bite, and then before Mouse knows it, she's eaten half of the 'moon' - Oh no!
Mouse is forlorn, realising that if the moon is half eaten, it'll never be quite as amazing and astounding as it was before. Can Mouse's friends Rabbit and Mole possibly help out and put her mind at rest?
We love the little peephole panels in this story, perfect for your busy and curious little ones.
A delightful tale, perfectly snuggly for bed-time and with a lovely message about understanding and friendship wrapped around its whimsical heart. There's a very good reason that people mention Petr's name in hushed respectful tones in children's picture book circles. It's because he's so durned good!
Here's the talented mouse-keteer himself, showing us how to draw our own Little Mouse!
Also, here's a lovely activity sheet for you to download, print and enjoy! We spoil you rotten, don't we :)
Charlotte's best bit: Mouse can't stop once she's nibbled a tiny piece of the tasty moon! Oops!
Daddy's Favourite bit: A lovely original tale that feels as warm and snuggly as your favourite blanket, and mouse is just so cute! Loved it to bits!
