We must admit that we fell completely in love with these books the moment we saw them and couldn't wait to show them off to people. Meld together classic stories, give then a serious pinch of gorgeous design, lots of colour and lots of baby-friendly words to learn and absorb and you've got a stunning new range of books published by Gibbs Smith.
Jennifer Adams' superb Babylit and Baby Language Primers, with illustrations by Alison Oliver, are every bit as good as they sound. As you can see from our header image, the babylit language primer for "Don Quixote" is gloriously illustrated and acts as an early English / Spanish language primer for children dipping a toe into learning another language. Introducing characters and elements from Cervantes' classic "Don Quixote", children can learn the Spanish translations for each word (and vice versa) with gorgeous character and object illustrations accompanying each page spread. It's a fabulous little book, we can't wait to show it to Charlotte's new baby cousin!
The range is quite extensive and Jennifer also kindly sent us a copy of "Little Miss Burnett: A Babylit Flower Primer: The Secret Garden"
As gorgeous as it looks, "The Secret Garden - a Flowers Primer" |
This time youngsters are introduced to the delights of a flower garden via Frances Hodgson Burnett's classic "The Secret Garden" with phrases from the original story complimenting your children's emerging language skills as they explore flower species in glorious detail.
Both books are utterly wonderful, and there are even more available in the Gibbs Smith "Babylit" range. Go check out their website!
