Star Wars Mania is about to explode in just a few short weeks as Episode 7 debuts. There's never been a better time to take a look at brilliant new Star Wars books so let's dive into an absolute cracker! If there's one thing that's more awesome than Star Wars, it's building things from Star Wars that you can then display proudly at home (wife / mum permitting!)
Egmont's "Star Wars Starfighter Workshop" is part activity book and part construction project as it gives you a brilliant puzzle book but more importantly a set of cardboard templates and shapes that allow you to build two of the most iconic spacecraft in the Star Wars Universe.
"X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter" - Whisper those words to folk of a certain age and they'll remember the first time they saw Luke Skywalker's X-Wing powering down the polar trench of the Death Star ready to make its torpedo run - and the sight of several Tie Fighters zipping in to stop him.
The two card models in this book are HUGE and though we've previously covered the awesome "R2-D2 Droid Workshop" here on ReadItDaddy, we found the X Wing and Tie Fighter models were a lot easier to put together.
The basic shapes are snapped out of their surrounds and you can start to put the models together with no need for glue or tape (though you could add some thread to them if you want to hang them from your ceiling - and who WOULDN'T want to do that!!)
The accompanying activity book also tells you a little bit more about each spacecraft, strengths and weaknesses and you'll get a ton of old-skool Star Wars bios for characters like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa as well as old dark helmet himself, Darth Vader.
But the models really are the stars here. Simple to build and great to display!
Charlotte's favourite bit: Learning more about Princess Leia and helping Daddy build the models
Daddy's favourite bit: A fantastic build-em book for budding Star Wars fans. The models are easy to build and look absolutely brilliant once done.
