The movie "Inside Out" was a game changer for both children and adults. Examining in fine (and quite often raw) detail the emotions we feel on a daily basis, the movie was an outstanding success and to some extent has changed the acceptance by kids of what their emotions mean.
Definitely no bad thing then that Anna Llenas' book "The Colour Monster" takes things a step further, introducing colour to help younger children understand their own emotional states.
Colour Monster is - to quote his little friend - all over the place. Like a crazy chaotic multi-hued rainbow, Colour Monster can't quite settle on just one colour.
The little girl is very quick to point out what's going on. The poor little guy is an emotional wreck!
Yep I'm all over the place too, I'm typing this on a monday morning before coffee! |
Yikes. Let's hope mum can clean that up easily...! |
Wowsers - No wonder Monster is confused! |
Charlotte's favourite bit: Loved-up monster and his wonderful pink hearts
Daddy's favourite bit: A cute and acute observation of emotions delicately and deliciously designed for young readers.
