ReadItDaddy's Chapter Book of the Week - Week Ending 3rd February 2017 - "Polly and the Puffin: The New Friend" by Jenny Colgan and Thomas Docherty (Little, Brown)

Our Chapter Book of the Week this week is the third book in a delightful little series about a girl and her best friend (who just happens to be a Puffin!)
We loved the previous two "Polly and the Puffin" books (Polly and the Puffin, and "The Stormy Day") so we were delighted to see Book 3 in our in-tray.

This time Polly and Puffin are joined by a new friend and her rather raucous parrot. As Polly prepares to go to Big School she's a bit apprehensive, but when both Polly and Neil (her loyal Puffin chum) make new friends, life takes a new turn and there are all new adventures to be had.

Light-hearted, breezy and fun, Jenny's stories (complimented perfectly by Thomas's brilliant artwork) are absolutely perfect for kids who - themselves - might be taking the first steps towards Big School and also their first independent steps in reading beyond picture books.
