We do love a re-spun fairytale classic or two...and this one is definitely a hoot from start to finish...
Josh Funk and Edwardian Taylor's fantastic "It's Not Jack and the Beanstalk" sets the narrator against our reluctant hero. The bossyboots narrator is completely determined the story will play out as it always does, but Jack has other ideas.
Forced to give up his favourite pet for some magic beans (how naff) and then to put his own life in danger by shinning up a gigantic beanstalk, Jack has had just about enough.
It's not just Jack either! The giant isn't too happy at the prospect of how the story ends up for him, so it's time for the story characters to rebel in the most hilarious and spectacular way possible.
See how the narrator likes THAT!
It's such a great idea - and Edwardian Taylor's madcap illustrations are the perfect pairing for Josh's sense of fun and mischief here.
If you think you're bored to tears with the same old ordinary everyday fairy tales, give this one a spin! It's utterly magical!
"It's Not Jack and the Beanstalk" by Josh Funk and Edwardian Taylor is out now, published by Two Lions (kindly supplied for review).
