I clearly remember the fuss and faff when my Nan's beloved pet budgie escaped from his cage one day and flew straight out of the open window. Nan was so upset, but she needn't have worried. Alfie (for that was his name) came back as soon as he got hungry, and sat chirping away in his cage as if nothing had happened.
In "Oh No! Where did Walter Go" we meet young Olive who also has a feathered friend.
Walter escapes in a similar way, and also flies outside.
Olive doesn't know if she will ever be able to find him. Poor Olive is distraught as Walter is so small and the city is so big.
But Olive knows that her special acrobat-detective-explorer-pirate skills will help her find Walter - won't they?
Can Olive find her friend? Keen-eyed readers may have to help her.
Fun times with a feathered friend and a plucky young girl. |
The real draw of this book is in the lovely scene-setting and glorious illustrations as this plucky little girl turns detective (with your help, of course).
Can anyone see Walter? Look carefully now! |
Such a fun book and the illustrations really are a wow.
"Oh No, Where did Walter Go?" by Joanna Boyle is out now, published by Templar (kindly supplied for review).
