If you're not instantly drawn into this book with one glance of that amazing cover, then we're really going to have to talk, aren't we?"Witchfairy" by Brigette Minne and Carl Cnuett is the sort of book that makes us sit up and take notice before we've even turned a page. Reading the blurb for this one from the press release made us even more excited to dip into this darkly delicious tale.
A young fairy named Rosemary is bored of being a fairy.
Everything at Fairy School is prim and proper. There seem to be so many rules, so many things to remember - and not a lot of room for fun.
Rosemary realises that she would much rather be a witch.
Needless to say her mother, a beautiful fairy, is absolutely horrified. How can her little girl want to be a grubby witch?
But Rosemary knows her own mind (very much like a certain little girl I know who can't be talked out of anything either!)

Rosemary disappears to spend time with the witches in the dark wood.
She enjoys her new life as a witch so much, but also realises that her poor mother is so sad because of her decision. Is there a way for Rosemary to balance both sides? Can she become...a Witchfairy and get the best of both worlds perhaps?
This story is so brilliantly inventive and original, with a subtle moral message about sticking to your guns to be whoever or whatever you want to be (but of course bear in mind that sometimes even the best advice might not be what you want to hear at any point in time).
Beautifully written and illustrated, another fantastic book from Book Island.
Charlotte's best bit: Finding out what witches get up to in the dark woods!
Daddy's favourite bit: Such a fantastic original and thoroughly charming story, we loved the idea of a witchfairy and I'm pretty sure you will too once you read this book!
