We never cease to be amazed by just how fantastic Big Picture Press books are, and how they manage to cram so much greatness into their fabulous Natural History series.
The "Welcome to the Museum" books have always made the bold claim that they contain an entire museum within the pages of a book, and when you see "Dinosaurium" by Lily Murray and Chris Wormell (currently dazzling everyone with his sublime cover art for "The Book of Dust") - the latest volume in the series, you really have to believe the hype.
In a year when we've seen quite an upsurge in dinosaur books, some great, some mediocre, we still have room in our Book of the Week slot for one that goes beyond the usual 'samey' stuff and really brings not only great artwork to the table, but some new and interesting facts from some of the world's leading palaeontologists (those wonderful folk who study dinosaur fossils, of course!)
Oh hai, you can call me Rex. |
Pfff...who could possibly believe that Dinosaurs evolved into birds...oh. |
How's the weather up there? |
Charlotte's best bit: Learning more about Oviraptosauria (bird-like dinosaurs).
Daddy's favourite bit: We love any non-fiction titles that don't talk down to their child audience. This fits the bill perfectly, in fact we can imagine this being a real 'keeper' for years and years to come.
"Dinosaurium (Welcome to the Museum Series)" by Lily Murray and Chris Wormell is out now, published by Big Picture Press (kindly supplied for review).
