Meet "Frankfurt" by Mia Cassany and Mikel Casal. He's the sausage-dog pal of a cool beatnik hipster who finds the poor pup abandoned one evening, cold and shivering and dumped in a cardboard box.
Pierre takes pity on the poor pooch, and decides to take him home.
At first Pierre worries that the pooch might chew his way through his trainer collection, or scratch his valuable and precious vinyl but Frankfurt is extremely well behaved, and soon adapts to this cool hipster lifestyle with aplomb...
Wouldn't you love to live in a cosy rooftop apartment like Pierre and Frankfurt? |
The two become firm friends - but there's just one problem. It's quite a biggie too. You see Frankfurt REALLY hates his name.
Pierre's funky dancing made us giggle! |
Oh how we love end papers like this. So hip it hurts! |
This is such a cool book, and we do mean COOL baby. Hip as heck, with the sort of zippy storytelling and visual style that makes it stand out (pretty much what you'd expect from a Tate publication though, right?)
Dog lovers will adore it to bits.
Charlotte's best bit: Frankfurt's grand plan to get Pierre to change his name, even if it means a lot of bristling and growling.
Daddy's best bit: We love a dog book, and we do LOVE a cool book and this ticks both of those boxes in such a hip and stylish way. Impossible not to fall head over heels for this one.
"Frankfurt" by Mia Cassany and Mikel Casal is out now, published by Tate Publishing (kindly supplied for review).
