"The Sasquatch and the Lumberjack" by Crix Sheridan introduces a gnarly woodcutter and his awesome new pal.
Kids may not know what a Sasquatch is, but they might know of Yetis, and of course Bigfoot. Sasquatch is their American cousin, and this big hairy beast strikes up a friendship with his adventurous pal after a chance meeting in the forest.
The story bobs along pleasantly keeping the text to a bare minimum and letting Crix's awesome and fun illustrations take over as the two pals experience the seasons as they unfold in the forest, leading to all sorts of adventures and fun.
In the winter (oh god, do I ever wish it was winter) there's the chance to ski and sled. Autumn is golden as the forest changes to a myriad different hues.
Spring sees the forest reborn anew and then in the summer there's fun to be had as the two surf and swim, camp and hike and then as Autumn rolls around again, it's time to forage for apples and other tasty treats.
Such a fun little book this, full of personality. Love it!
