If there's one preoccupation most littlies go through in their formative years, it's a preoccupation with pets...
If you're lucky enough to live in a household with pets, you know how rewarding an experience it can be - but what, if like C, you have to rely on your imagination to think about what it would be like to 'own' an amazing creature?
Not just an everyday boring cat or dog, but a mythical magical creature.
In Anya Glazer's fantastic "Magical Pets: A Practical Guide" a youngster imagines what it would be like to own a fiery Phoenix, a gorgeous Gryphon, a playful dragon or perhaps a magical Unicorn (complete with dazzling unicorn poo! Is it good for the roses? We didn't think to ask!)
It's a wonderful flowing story with glorious artwork from Anya, and a hefty dose of magic and mayhem as pet ownership doesn't always go as planned.
Superb stuff from DFB!
C's favourite imaginary pet: Probably a miniature Chibi Godzilla (she has a penchant for lizards and scaly creatures).
Daddy's favourite imaginary pet: Gotta be something cute and cuddly but with a dose of 'weird' like a Platypus!
"Magical Pets: A Practical Guide" by Anya Glazer is out today, published by David Fickling Books (kindly supplied for review).
