ReadItDaddy's Poetry Book of the Week - Week Ending 7th September 2018: "Poetry for a Change: A National Poetry Day Anthology" by Various (Otter-Barry Books)

Our Poetry Book of the Week this week is a fantastic way to celebrate National Poetry day. A superb anthology of contemporary and classic poems...
The twist in "Poetry for a Change" is that contemporary poets get to showcase their own work, but also choose a classic poem that had a massive influence on them as they began their writing careers.

National Poetry Day is a chance for everyone everywhere to read, share and enjoy poetry.

This special anthology features poems by the National Poetry Day Ambassadors, a top team of fantastic poets who bring poetry alive all year round.

Includes new poems by Deborah Alma, Joseph Coelho, Sally Crabtree, Jan Dean, Marjorie Lotfi Gill, Chrissie Gittins, Matt Goodfellow, Sophie Herxheimer, Michaela Morgan, Brian Moses, Abigail Parry, Rachel Piercey, Rachel Rooney, Joshua Siegal and Kate Wakeling (winner of the CLiPPA, 2017).

As we mentioned, each poet has chosen a favourite poem to share, so look out for classics by Christina Rossetti, WB Yeats, Shakespeare and Keats among others.

Children seem to naturally be drawn to poetry and the cleverness of using language to evoke emotions, draw up a scene or just play with words. This compilation is a really brilliant step into enjoying the world of poetry for first timers, but will also dazzle and delight long-term poetry fans.

"Poetry for a Change" by various is out now, published by Otter-Barry Books (kindly supplied for review).
