"Matisse's Magical Trail" by Tim Hopgood and Sam Boughton is a truly inspirational little story book to encourage kids to look at their world in a different way.
After all, that's what Matisse does as he makes his way slowly around, taking time to savour the finer things in life, and examine his surroundings in great detail.
As Matisse is so creative, he loves nothing better than to create beautiful drawings with his trail.
The trouble is most of the time people are far too busy to even notice Matisse's beautiful works of art. They're too busy, speeding their way around and not really paying much attention.
It takes someone a little lower to the ground to finally notice Matisse's beautiful trails. A small child notices them, in fact. And at last, Matisse knows that his works of art are finally appreciated - and they inspire a whole class of children to get creative too!
This is fabulous stuff, encouraging kids to be as creative and imaginative as Matisse himself. The perfect book to base a set of classroom activities on, but also a slitheringly good read too!
