By now, if you're like us, the long summer holidays are driving you slightly stir crazy.

Keeping kids busy over the holidays is tough.

Even more tough if you're trying to get them to do something worthwhile, learning while they engage in fun and interesting activities designed to stimulate their brains and get them thinking about stuff they might also learn in school.

Your rescuers from holiday boredom are here, in the form of Team Curious Jane and "More Curious Jane" - a new volume in the fabulous activity book series from Sterling Publishing.

This book is fantastic for inquisitive girls (and boys) who want to set up and perform interesting experiments, do fun makes or get creative while learning a whole truckload of cool STEAM subjects by stealth.

Let's take a look inside the book at the contents page to get a flavour of what's in store, and the sort of things you'll need (mostly sourced from ordinary everyday home supplies).

I think without a doubt our favourite section was "kitchen science" as you get to eat most of your experiments (not the slime though!)

Some of the experiments feature some US-centric ingredients and measurements (I had no idea for example what "half and half" was), but with a quick bit of googling you'll be able to work out what's what. 

Gather together a few home essentials and get busy making!
