Little Tiger Press have thoroughly got you covered when it comes to brilliant picture books for your teeny tinies. Our Day 14 Advent Calendar book is "The Magical Snow Garden" by Tracey Corderoy and Jane Chapman...
Penguins have to be some of the cutest and most cuddly characters in children's picture books and the deft-flippered fellow in "The Magical Snow Garden" is no exception.
Waking up one morning to a vast wilderness of snow and white, young Wellington Penguin is determined to do something about it. He wants to grow his own garden.
Naturally his penguin friends scoff at this ridiculous notion, for nothing green will ever grow out there in the snow. So what does Wellington do? Does he give up and throw in the trowel?
Of course he doesn't! With a little determination and a lot of TLC, before long Wellington manages to 'grow' the most astonishing and colourful garden imaginable...
There's quite a cool and subtle eco-message wrapped up in this story as Wellington scavenges all sorts of things to make his garden with (with a little help from his other birdy friends).
A truly wondrous book for tinies!
Charlotte's favourite bit: The finished results as Wellington steps back to admire his amazing colourful garden for the first time. Breathtaking!
Daddy's favourite bit: A warm and cosy little story with a subtle message about making use of the things others throw away (and brightening up the place in the process). What a little hero Wellington is!
