One of the most beautiful children's books we've seen so far this year, and a touching tale of friendship in "Blue and Bertie" by Kristyna Litten...
Bertie the Giraffe is a happy soul. Life as a giraffe isn't too bad, but sometimes it does feel like every day passes and is much the same as the last. Get up, browse the treetops for breakfast, mooch around a bit, and then go to the watering hole - Surely there's more to life than this?
One morning, Bertie oversleeps and in his struggle to catch up with the rest of his herd, becomes hopelessly lost in the jungle. There he meets Blue, another Giraffe but a very different one. Blue is - well, yes you've guessed it, blue - and likes to do some very different things. Blue introduces Bertie to a hitherto unseen side of life and the two become firm friends. But how on earth would Blue fit in with Bertie's other giraffe friends? Is Blue just too different?
We'll leave you to discover the rest of Bertie and Blue's adventure in this gorgeous tale, which contains some truly breathtaking (and tall!) page spreads. Kristyna's gentle storytelling and wonderful artwork makes this book a nigh-on essential purchase for your tiny ones' book collection.
Charlotte's favourite bit: The "Turn it on its side" page spread featuring the most wonderful flowers and plants as Blue and Bertie explore together and become firm friends
Daddy's favourite bit: A glorious and gentle piece of storytelling complimented by really fabulous illustrations and two of the most loveable giraffes you'll ever meet.
