Blog favourite Sophy Henn is back and she's taking a wee step back from bears to discover the joys of the world around us and all the things in it, big and small. Here's "Pass It On"...
One of the things that's really changed me as a dad (and as a human being) is how children can find amazement, adventure and wonder in things that we cynical old adults may have long since taken for granted.
Sophy Henn's awesome new book "Pass it On" is like a pictorial 'manual' for adults and children alike, showing fabulous insight into that very ability, that comes as naturally to children as wanting to step in mud puddles with their best shoes on, or loving the taste of toothpaste so much that they cover their entire brush in it.
This lovely lyrical read-aloud book rediscovers those tiny moments and quite rightly celebrates them with Sophy's beautifully constructed characters imparting these golden nuggets of wisdom in a wholly original way.
If you're a (soon to be) 48 year old who can still find delight in surreptitiously having a go on the swings, or making dens, rubbing balloons and making your daughter's hair stand on end with them and a zillion other delights of being a parent, you are going to love this book. If you're a kid you'll probably blitz through the whole thing in a minute or two and say "Yep, we do that! Good, innit?"
Guaranteed to put a gigantic grin on your fizzog!
Charlotte's favourite bit: Any book that celebrates getting messy has to be a win!
Daddy's favourite bit: Acutely and cutely observed golden moments wrought into a glorious little story book, Sophy's star continues to rise and she's fast becoming one of the most sought after talents in children's books today.
