Wow, we're feeling very lucky this year as we've had two brilliant and awesome Jo Empson books so far.
The First (Little Home Bird) wrapped you up in a cosy little story of a bird heading south for the winter, but Jo expertly switches gears for a story full of fun and hilarity in "Chimpanzees for Tea".
Poor Vincent has to go to the shops for his mum. Armed with a shopping list and his trusty go kart, Vincent heads off but before he gets as far as the end of the road, a mischievous bird snatches the list and makes off with it.
Vincent sets his mind to remembering each item, but as he meets friends and neighbours from his town as he makes his way to the grocery store, Vincent becomes distracted - and soon he's mixing up all the list items in his head.
Why do you want a bunch of parrots? What on earth are you doing with a large bear and - of course - we're dying to know what you were supposed to pick up instead of chimpanzees for tea!
Deliciously playing with words, and having fun with them, this bouncy story is a feelgood romp that will make you and your little ones giggle out loud!
Charlotte's favourite bit: When poor Vincent finally gets home at the end of his 'shopping trip' - Thank goodness there is at least cake as a reward!
Daddy's favourite bit: A lyrical and bouncy story, tweaking the nose of words and filled to the brim with fun!
