This book really got me thinking. What were Charlotte's first words? I'm pretty sure they weren't "Dada"...
Mr Fallon might not be that well known on this side of the big ol' Atlantic Ocean but he's the host of "The Tonight Show" in the US, and he's also a pretty funny social commentator (plus he's a bit of a gamer, this is possibly the only reason why I know who he is, as he's often premiered new exciting videogames on his show).
Jimmy is now turning his attention to children's literature and in "Your Baby's First Word will be Dada" there's a funny and quite cute examination of that subversive practice that all new dads are horribly guilty of.
Let's face it, fellahs. You DO do this, you know you do. You try to encourage your new-born to say "Dada" before they say "Mama", and Jimmy Fallon's razor sharp comic wit comes into play, examining the success rate of a series of animals trying to get their cute offspring to do the same.
With bold kid-friendly illustrations, "Your Baby's First Word will be Dada" made us both giggle (though there were more than a few "Harrumphs" from mum - who quite accurately pointed out that kids still love their mums the best).
As to Charlotte's first words. It did begin with a D at least, but it was "Duck Duck" rather than "Da Da". So much for my well laid plans then, I'm obviously not as persuasive as those feathered fiends!
"Your Baby's First Word will be Dada" is out now!
Charlotte's best bit: The cute tiny little piggies! (Oink!)
Daddy's favourite bit: A laugh-out-loud acute and cute observation of how dads basically try (and fail) to rule the roost.
