Ten Little Monsters by Mike Brownlow and Simon Rickerty (Orchard Books)

Oh, the fun Mike and Simon must have designing these books. We've seen ten pirates suffer a grisly fate, ten princesses prim and proper and now it's the turn of "Ten Little Monsters"
I guess I had what you could describe as a bit of an odd childhood, largely influenced by two awesome uncles who loved crazy 50s B movies, and awesome Universal Monsters. So of course, being the dutiful father, I couldn't wait to pass on those quirky oddities to Charlotte as soon as possible.

Monsters are awesome, classic movie monsters are even more awesome so in "Ten Little Monsters" by Mike Brownlow and Simon Rickerty, it's obvious that they went to town picking all our favourite monster types and bringing them into this busy and hilarious little story.

Ten awesome little bunk beds filled with gruesome beasts!
They're creepy, kooky, and altogether spooky but as each little monster amusingly succumbs to a fate slightly more desirable than death (well, at least we think so!) the giggles and guffaws get louder and louder.

No monster book is complete without at least one gibbering mad scientist and a death ray wielding giant robot!
Usually we're fairly cynical if a successful picture book formula is over-used, but this is just superb - and in fact it's our favourite of the "Ten Little" books so far.

Who's your favourite monster?

Charlotte's favourite bit: Watch out for a witchy brew and a cute little zombie girl!

Daddy's favourite bit: Sheer brilliance, adding to Mike and Simon's already fun series with the best yet!
