There are fantastic activities between the 'makes' and if you're the sort of person who can stand to deface a gorgeous book, plenty of space for you to come up with your own designs and ideas (for example making the perfect pie-making machine!)

Andrea and David have created a whole world of fabulous characters and stories but it's fantastic to also have a book like this that lets kids get directly involved, making their own amazing contraptions!
