Here's an interesting idea for a book that poses a series of pretty tricky questions to you. This or That? By Brandon T. Snider
When I was younger, and spent far too much time playing videogames (like I don't do that now) I remember a game on the Commodore 64 called Alter Ego.
I picked this thing up at a computer fair (remember those?) and it was one of the first disk-based games I ever owned. Back then the Commodore 64's disk drive was a mammoth piece of kit, and disk games loaded (what felt like) almost instantly compared to loading stuff off tape.
But best of all, they lent themselves well to hosting games with a bit more complexity.
Alter Ego, a bit like "This or That?" allowed you to answer a series of questions as your character evolved from a baby to an adult. A bit like an extended "Truth or Consequences" game where whatever decision you made had an impact later on in the game.
Anyway, I digress. But that's seriously what This or That reminded me of.
Based on the age-old kids playground game "Would You Rather?" where you ask a friend to choose between two equally unappealing options, this book is chock-full of fun questions to put to your friends and family (or if you've got the guts, complete strangers in the street!)
For example would you rather brush your teeth with rotten milk OR take a bath in salad dressing? Would you rather drink a gallon of garbage juice OR eat a softball-sized clump of dog hair? How about kissing a skunk OR your toothless old grandma?
There are tons of questions within, that are guaranteed to have your kids snorting their heads off at each other's reactions.
"This or That?" by Brandon T. Snider is available now, published by Sterling Publishing - and watch out for Book 2 coming in the summer!
