Surprise Surprise by Niki Daly (Otter Barry Books)

What a sweet little book, with a twirly twist in the tale. Here's "Surprise Surprise" by Niki Daly...
In a lovely little cottage in the countryside, Mr and Mrs Tati have an idyllic life.

There's just one thing missing!

A little baby. As much as Mr and Mrs Tati love each other, they would truly love a little one to cuddle and spoil.

Mr Tati goes off to the Baby Shop to buy a baby, but as all giggling 9 year olds know, you can't just go and buy a baby. So instead when Tati returns, it's with a rosy round-cheeked piglet.

They love their baby pig as if it was their own child, but soon learn as he grows older that little piggies can't go to school and enjoy being like other children, no matter how nicely you dress them up in human clothes.

It's time for Mr and Mrs Tati to make a wish. And this is where we draw a veil over the rest of the story because there is a delicious twist, and we aren't the sort of folk who go spoiling things - Suffice to say that it's a very happy ending and you'll love it as much as we did!

Charlotte's favourite bit: I think she'd rather love an adorable little baby pig all of her own (the book skirts over any potential issues about changing piggy nappies!)

Daddy's favourite bit: A lovely little original tale that feels like a traditional fable, beautiful illustrations and full of entertaining moments - but that curly little twist will make you gasp with delight.
