The Story of Space - A First Book About Our Universe by Catherine Barr, Steve Williams and Amy Husband (Frances Lincoln Children's Books)

The brilliant "The Story Of" range from Frances Lincoln Children's Books now moves out into the stratosphere...
Previously we've seen the fantastic "The Story of Life - A First Book About Evolution" tackling the fairly meaty subject of how life evolved on earth. Now younger children can also learn a lot more about space, and how the universe was formed.

Bang on time for difficult questions from Charlotte recently about the Big Bang (try balancing that with school doctrine on teaching religious subjects alongside science!), this book delves into the origins of the universe, and takes a closer look at star systems, planets and all things spacey - including of course our own exploration of space and the science involved too.

Catherine Barr and Steve Williams balance child-friendly writing with Amy Husband's brilliant colourful and fun illustrations, making this a great first book for little ones who are just getting into learning about space for the first time.

There's no better time to encourage children to take an interest in science and space than in early years, so this book would also be a fantastic resource for classrooms and teachers who fancy spinning it into a brilliant project subject.

"The Story of Space - A First Book About Our Universe" by Catherine Barr, Steve Williams and Amy Husband is out now, published by Frances Lincoln Children's Books (kindly supplied for review).
