ReadItDaddy's Second Picture Book of the Week - Week Ending 5th May 2017 - "The Legion of Regrettable Super-Villains" by Jon Morris (Quirk Books)

It's time for another dubious delve into comic book history for our Second Picture Book of the Week - the awesome "The Legion of Regrettable Super Villains" by Jon Morris...
Superheroes are big business, but where oh where would they be without their nefarious foils, their terrible nemeses, their criminal foes?

Once again Jon Morris delves into the archives for a fabulous whistle-stop tour of just about every era of comic book history to weed out the ne'er do wells - those that never quite reached the heady heights of infamy like The Joker or Dr Doom. It's "The Legion of Regrettable Super Villains".

Meet Doctor Voodoo, Bloor, Colossus, The Horrible Hand and many more in this fabulous colourful tome filled to the brim with the most inept and ridiculous collection of crazies.

Poor Gorillas - What on earth did they ever do to you!!
Jon expertly curates this collection, stretching back as far as the very origins of comic book popularity, just as a certain citizen of the planet Krypton was making his debut in Action Comics.

At first, villains were fairly low rent hoodlums and crooked businessmen types (sounds familiar) but it wasn't long before comic book creators really unleashed their imaginations and let fly with all manner of bizarre creations.

A powerhouse of energy..and a thoroughly bad egg
So much content that will tickle ardent comic fans. We enjoyed seeing how supervillains became more and more exotic (and more ridiculous) as time went on, and in fact it's almost sad to see that tail off quite a bit in modern comics.

Tons of brilliantly coloured panels show off the heyday of comics at their best
Absolutely essential for comic fans - check out Jon's other brilliant collection "The League of Regrettable Superheroes" also published by Quirk.

Charlotte's favourite bit: A fantastic book giving her tons of brilliant ideas for her own comics (and her own crazed villain creations!)

Daddy's favourite bit: These collections are just SO GOOD! We'll even forgive the PR for not including postage on our copy (tsk!)
