Frankenbunny by Jill Esbaum and Alice Brereton (Sterling Publishing)

As the wind howls outside, the darkness falls and the rain beats a staccato tempo on our roof, we keep telling ourselves one thing over and over...there's no such thing as monsters. There's no such thing as monsters...
In "Frankenbunny" tiny Spencer the Rabbit gets a lot of teasing from his older brothers, because Spencer is PETRIFIED of monsters.

His brothers are mean, and keep telling stories about the scary "Frankenbunny" who scares little bunlets during the wee small hours.

In the daytime Spencer is brave, or when his dad is around he is full of courage. But as bedtime comes, and night falls, he starts to think about his bigger brothers' cruel words, and soon he's quaking under his bunny-sized duvet.

But one night, after a particular scare, Spencer hatches a sweet delicious plan of revenge to get his bigger brothers back once and for all!

This is a superb little tale about childhood fears, and in particular the fear of the dark. One for kids who have anxieties about bedtimes and things that go bump in the night, but with a truly uplifting and awesome ending as Spencer soon realises that the darkness is nothing to fear after all.

"Frankenbunny" by Jill Esbaum and Alice Brereton is out now, published by Sterling (kindly supplied for review).
