Many regular readers will know that we're HUGE comic fans. Not only do we love reading them but we also love writing and drawing our own.
Make Believe Ideas have a HUGE selection of innovative titles on their website including a huge stack of awesome activity books for middle grade and above.
They very kindly sent us "The Incredible Comic Book Studio" by Thomas Nelson to have a look through. Inside the ring-bound and cleverly designed book you'll find just about everything you can think of to give your comic-making a huge super-powered boost.
As well as expert tips from Thomas and other contributors, you'll definitely love this if you're (like us) not exactly super-confident in your super-hero drawing skills.
The studio comes with a neat set of stencils tucked away at the back of the book so you can start drawing and building your characters with ease.
There are speech balloon stencils, body parts, comic layout templates and even neat stickers and transfers to really bring your comic creations to life. All you need is a bit of imagination, some simple art materials (you could - shudder - even DRAW IN THE BOOK if you like but we always opt to keep our books neat and tidy, so paper or a sketchbook would also do) and you can get right on with the serious business of making comics.
C's best bit: The stencils were really awesome for her, as they meant she could get straight on with making comics in no time at all.
Daddy's favourite bit: Some great tips on comic plotting and layouts here, an excellent title for kids just starting out making their own comics but also pretty good if they're just looking to boost their skills.
"The Incredible Comic Book Studio" by Thomas Nelson is out now, published by Make Believe Ideas (kindly supplied for review).
