"Kids Write Jokes" culled from the fantastic Twitter feed @kidswritejokes (Blink Publishing)

There's something undeniably funny about the sort of jokes kids make up themselves.

Twitter followers of the awesome @kidswritejokes profile will probably already know what happens when you collect together a bunch of kids and ask them to come up with something funny (with or without the aid of sugar-laden fizzy drinks).

The results have been collected together in the perfect christmas gift for joke lovers who look beyond the usual "Why Was the Window Unhappy? Because it had a pane!" stuff, and right into some seriously surreal and scatological territory.

I think we took great amusement from the fact that all of the kids contributing to "Kids Write Jokes" probably crack themselves up as much as they crack us up, so without further ado, let's dig in and have a look at the sort of funnies kids come up with...

The frog joke is a modern classic. Sublime, surreal, slightly disturbing!
Some of the jokes make a weird sort of sense, some are obviously misquoted from parents (yes, probably dad) jokes the kids have heard, and are hilariously mangling in translation.

Danged right we'd hide!
There are more poo jokes than we comfortably knew what to do with, but in each case you can genuinely hear these read in a slightly squeaky kid's voice (like C's) and just burst out laughing at how utterly crackers they are.

An eight legged clown is the stuff of my nightmares
I did genuinely laugh out loud at one joke about crossing a vampire with homework and creating something horrific. C mostly rolled her eyes at these but later on I caught her absolutely snorting with laughter at one particular poo gag.

Absolutely bonkers just like a monkey eating keys!
