Today we begin counting down 100 children's books that have found a permanent home on our shelves, from 10 years of book blogging!

Today sees the start of a very special set of articles here on ReadItDaddy. Over the next 100 days we'll be pulling out tons of books from our bookshelves, representing the "Keepers" - the children's picture books that have found a permanent home on our shelves after 10 years of book blogging.

As some of you may already know, August 12th is our 10th Blogging Anniversary, and to mark this very special occasion we're going to re-review 100 books from our shelves in the run-up to that date, that have stayed with us through thick and thin, those very special books that we consider to be the creme de la creme of illustrated kidlit.

Each day we'll post a new review. Some will have appeared on the blog, some are new and fresh to the blog but they're all the most amazing books in our collection (note that we are concentrating on picture books as that's how we started out ten years ago but we may have to sneak in a few chapter books from our keepers pile too).

To try and make things a bit fairer, we'll be rounding up books that form part of a series but noting the highlights of each series, and those books we hold dear.

Currently we still haven't decided what to do with the blog past the magic 12th August date. We've talked about it a lot, we've talked about giving up the blog entirely in its current form, or transforming it into something...different - or maybe giving up reviewing certain types of books but above all else we still want to carry on reading (and writing about) fantastic children's books.

One final thing to note is that the books will be included entirely randomly. We're not playing favourites here or doing any sort of troll-baiting click-hungry lists (what on earth would be the point in trying to decide which book, above all others, was nominated Number 1). We're purely in it for the love of sharing these books with you. Some may never have featured on the blog before (back when our reviewing schedule was little more than a pile of books grabbed from the library) so it'll be interesting to re-appraise those with fresh (older) eyes.

So in addition to our normal review schedule expect to see some real kidlit classics, some new favourites, some old, some new, some borrowed and definitely some blue books (we seem to have a LOT of books with blue covers) and we hope you'll stick with us and read right through to August 12th.

With huge love and thanks for continuing to read our humble blog.
