A colourful new Cbeebies show and now a fantastic range of books for teeny tinies, let's meet the Olobobs!

Here's an utterly fantastic little board  book with an innovative 'round' design that plopped into our review pile, making us both giggle and 'awww' at the same time.

Shhhh! Mouse has a secret, but can he keep it? We'll find out by delving into this awesome little board book...

Even though madame is far too old and sophisticated for board books, we love to see really attractive early years books regardless.

Particularly when they're as amazing as these new titles from Nosy Crow, covering numbers, letters and colours.

In association with The British Museum, Nosy Crow have come up the fantastic idea of delving into the collection's amazing pile of artifacts to bring eye-catching objects into play, so that children can learn their numbers and letters in a fun and engaging way.

"123" and "ABC" are the two titles we took a look at (with a further board book covering colours in a similar way). The books are, as you'd expect from Nosy Crow, of the highest quality and it's a particularly brilliant stroke of genius to use museum objects in this way.

Of course, one of the best things about this book (if you live near enough) is that you can then visit the musem and find the real objects for yourself.

Even if you can't get to London, each book comes with an additional QR code which you can scan with your phone or your tablet to learn even more about the artifacts used in the book.

Again, that's a fantastic way of using the books as a jumping off point for more exciting learning opportunities.

Our second Book of the Week might fool you a bit. Well it is April the 1st and this is not a book!

I was a bit apprehensive about approaching Charlotte with this one. The moment she saw the cover, I could see her expression setting into that "I'm not reviewing THAT!" look. But...

We're fashionably late to the party for this one but we couldn't resist reviewing Chris Haughton's perfect slice of comedic mayhem. Here's "Shh! We Have a Plan!"

What a genius idea! A "Babylit" series of board books perfect for introducing your teeniest tinies to classic literature in a fun way...Let's take a look at the fantastic Gibbs Smith range...

Though we primarily focus on brilliant children's picture books for ages 5-9, we love looking at all sorts of books - even board books!

Charlotte was actually very excited about "Hello School" when she realised that it was a book that was bright, colourful but most importantly had 'bits to play with'.

Angie Rozelaar's "Hello" range covers all sorts of subjects like Christmas and Holidays but this is timed perfectly for re-release to tie in with children's first days at school - or in fact as a great little nursery book so that toddlers can find out what they'll be letting themselves in for!

School is fun, and in Angie's book we find out just how much fun you can have in class. Drawing, painting, making things, learning about other countries and sitting down for a well earned lunch in the cafeteria.

The book is nicely sized and sturdy, and the interactive elements are huge fun (even for six year old Charlotte who sat for ages making all sorts of scoffing and slurping noises while playing with the school lunchtime spread in the book).

"Hello School" is out now from Campbell Books.

Charlotte's best bit: She loved playing School Lunches with the kids sitting down to scoff sandwiches, spaghetti and slurp juice.

Daddy's Favourite bit: A really nicely designed and high quality addition to Angie's brilliant "Hello" board book series.

What's this, what's this? It's got a little ape. What's this? It's such a funny shape!

OK I won't completely ruin anyone else's memories of the excellent songs in "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and will get down to the knotty business of reviewing "It's a Little Book" - the new board-book version of Lane Smith's much celebrated "It's a Book".

Remixed for teeny toddlers (but still hugely entertaining for older kids - and adults of course!) Lane Smith's wry humour and sometimes quite aloof look at books is very good fun.

Donkey (or should that be Jackass?) and Ape find a funny object lying around and wonder what it is. How does it work? Does it need to be plugged into the internet? Is it perhaps a sunhat?

A bit of googling (jarring use of the word 'google' in the book btw) soon enlightens the pair, and they begin a voyage of discovery into the world of beautiful books!

The visual style of the book (with its muted palette) is attractive, with great appeal across a broad spectrum. In this board-based format, it's great when you've got toddlers you can bounce on your knee and explore the book with. Even for Charlotte, usually fairly aloof about 'baby books' it was entertaining and she loved the characters.

Daddy's favourite bit: A nicely respun version of the classic "It's a Book".
