This Is Dobbo by Tim Pitt (Alien Boy World Ltd)

We've said it before and we'll say it again, we wholly admire self-published authors / illustrators who take the time and trouble to put together their own books and unleash them out into the wild. In fact, truth be told, we're a little bit envious. It's something we'd really love to do one day.

Tim Pitt's "This Is Dobbo" is that rare beast, an independently published and produced book that is high quality, has brilliant artwork and does something a little 'different' to the norm we expect in children's books.

"This Is Dobbo" is a nifty little introduction to a great little character and his world full of bright colours and dreamy skyscapes. It's utterly perfect for young children (it's probably a bit too young for Charlotte but she still loved the illustrations and even for early readers you can have a lot of fun exploring Dobbo's brightly hued world).

"This Is Dobbo" is the first in a planned series of titles to feature the pint-sized philosopher (and his fantastic line in hats!) so look out for more on Tim's website. We had a lot of fun with this (though we were looking at the E-version, the print version should be equally as brilliant and colourful) and your busy little toddlers will too.

Charlotte's best bit:  Dobbo floating on clouds ("Can we float on clouds, Daddy?") and the luscious lolly page!

Daddy's favourite bit: A very high quality self-published book that won't look out of place on any toddler's growing bookshelves.
