With school in full swing (in fact half term is rapidly approaching, eeeeeks!) our library visits have dropped off a little - but we couldn't wait to get back to our local library and find out what new awesome books they've got in. We hadn't seen "The Astonishing Secret of Awesome Man" before, but are complete suckers for a superhero story - and with its bold colourful action-packed cover, we couldn't resist it (plus we use the word 'awesome' a lot, as you've probably noticed, so how could we possibly resist!)

Awesome Man is as awesome as he sounds. He's virtually indestructible, has super strength, can leap tall buildings in a single bound and save trains from impending doom. But awesome man has a secret that he's just dying to share with you, the reader.

First though, there are waves of supervillains to fight off. With a quick stop for a high-energy snack, Awesome Man is on the case, defeating evil where it stands, thwarting the slime-riddled plans of Professor Von Evil and his disgusting creations, all with the aid of Superdog Moskowitz who stays faithfully at Awesome Man's side.

But his secret, can you guess what it is? Can you pick up a clue as Awesome Man reverts to his ordinary everyday 'disguise' part way through the book?

This is fast paced stuff from Michael and Jake. We loved the twist at the end, and we definitely approved of Jake Parker's awesome retro-styled superhero artwork. Definitely not to be missed!

Charlotte's best bit: When Awesome Man throws a tantrum, you really don't want to be in the way!

Daddy's Favourite bit: Nifty and attractive superhero antics with a delicious kid-friendly twist. Awesome indeed!
