Allysaurus and the First Day of School by Richard Torrey (Sterling Publishing)

It might be a little early to be thinking about your child's very first day at 'Big School' but here's another book that may help allay some of your little one's fears before the big day arrives in September. Step inside to meet Ally-Saurus...
Ally is woken up by her mum one morning, but this isn't just any morning. This is 'first day at school' morning and Ally is no longer simply Ally - she's Allysaurus! A fierce gnashing dinosaur girl who chomps through breakfast and stomps all the way to the school gates.

Can a little girl / dinosaur fit in with all the other kids at big school?

Will everyone else want to play with a chomping stomping Dino-girl?

"Allysaurus and the First Day of School" is riotous fun showing how all children are different, and exploring the different ways they interact, play and learn.

We loved all the kids in this (yes, even the three prissy princess-loving girls but especially the boy who was obsessively in love with his new lunchbox). We also loved - and I do mean REALLY loved - the school library getting a mention as part of an awesome school day (we wonder if that boy ever did find a book about lunchboxes! Say, there's an idea for a children's picture book if ever we saw one!)

Charlotte's best bit: Dino-girl being very quick to point out that no, dinosaurs AREN'T just for boys! Too right!

Daddy's Favourite bit: A fantastic first day at school for a character we'd love to see more of. Allysaurus is a roaring mighty girl after our own hearts!
