I Am Too Absolutely Small for School (Charlie and Lola) by Lauren Child (Orchard Books)

YESSSSS! We do love Charlie and Lola but we'll let you into a bit of a ReadItDaddy secret here. Our favourite characters BOTH feature in this story and they're NOT Charlie and Lola? Who are they? Step inside to read more...

So who are the mystery pair? None other than Soren Lorenson and Lola's ace new school friend Lotte - both of which are key to this story about starting school for the first time.

Lola's time at nursery is up, and soon it'll be time to troop along to school with Big Brother Charlie.

Lola won't admit it, but she's rather worried about the prospect. Lola's way of coping with her concerns about starting "Big School" are to make believe that her imaginary friend Soren Lorenson is actually the worried one.

Will he fit in?

Will he be able to make new friends?

Will he like school dinners?

This may be a golden oldie of a children's picture book but re-issued and ready for the new school term and your little ones starting school, it's a soothing balm for little ones who might be as worried as Lola.

We love the happy ending when Lola and Lotte meet for the first time and become firm friends! As brilliant as ever!

Charlotte's best bit: Lola and Lotte, a pair of mischievous scamps!

Daddy's Favourite bit: Soren Lorenson!! He's such a dude!
