Molly Maybe's Monsters: The Dappity Doofer by Kristina Stephenson (Simon and Schuster Children's Books)

A fantastic new mighty girl character with a brilliant doggy sidekick, happy launch day to "Molly Maybe's Monsters: The Dappity Doofer" by Kristina Stephenson. Let's meet Miss Maybe!
Ahhh Molly, we knew we were going to love your booky escapades from the moment we spotted your stripey jumper and funky dungarees (not to mention your extremely handsome scotty dog sidekick Mr Waggy Burns). From the creator of awesome Sir Charlie Stinky Socks is a girl after our own heart, Miss Molly Maybe.

She's no ordinary girl. Thanks to an incredible machine called "The Mundervator", Molly can visit a hidden parallel world of monsters and mayhem deep underground, where monsters live out their daily business in perfect harmony.

Only today something has happened. That harmony has been shattered and a precious monster artifact has gone missing. Where oh where is the Dappity Doofer? When the monsters gather in the town square for their nightly meeting the Dappity Doofer is missing from its sacred plinth and only Molly (and a rather shifty looking purple beast) seem to have a clue where the Dappity Doofer has gone.

Will Molly, her new monster pal and Mr Waggy Burns manage to rescue the item from Molly's neighbour's back garden before it becomes a permanent fixture?

A tale of derring-do that will not only win over fans of Sir Charlie Stinky Socks, but an entirely new audience of girls who have been clamouring for fantastic characters to call their own (and HOORAY, a character that parents will absolutely kiss you to bits for when it comes to the complexity of planning outfits for School Book Day dressing up opportunities, Kristina!)

It's a great debut and we truly dearly hope there'll be more. We knew we'd love Molly, and we were right!

Charlotte's favourite bit: Can't spoil the end of the book but a certain bit of sneaky artifact swapping results in hilarity as the story draws to a close.

Daddy's favourite bit: Sir Charlie might get a teeny bit jealous as the new girl on the block looks set to steal his thunder. Molly is absolutely brilliant! Will the two ever meet in a future book outing? Oh the possibilities!
