Skunk on a String by Thao Lam (Owl Kids Books)

What do you get if you cross a skunk with a balloon? No it's not some left-over Christmas Cracker joke but a new and rather gorgeous wordless book from Thao Lam. "Skunk on a String"...
Coming up in March from OwlKids Books, "Skunk on a String" is the wordless story of a Skunk who inadvertently ends up floating upside down underneath a bright red balloon. As Skunk helplessly floats through the sky, many try to help (but most recoil at Skunk's rather fruity aroma instead!)

Seeing the world from up high, Skunk realises that it's not all bad floating effortlessly through the blue, so when Skunk's trip comes abruptly to an end, what does he do?

We'll leave you to find out in this fabulous book!

We were provided with a PDF preview of the title by Owl Kids Books, and it's always great to see a publisher take on a wordless picture book title. There are many, many reasons why we love them - not least of all because they have such a broad age appeal, and anyone from tiny little teenies to grown ups can enjoy 'telling the story' of Skunk on his travels.

It's truly beautifully illustrated, and as Skunk's journey unfolds, you'll begin to wonder if life at the end of a balloon tether would be an idyllic way to see the world.

Charlotte's favourite bit: Skunk manages to grab a mid-air PBJ snack, courtesy of a high-rise workman

Daddy's favourite bit: As blissfully effortless as a balloon flight, as beautiful as a blue sky, it's a fab little wordless tale!
