ReadItDaddy's First Book of the Week - Week Ending 13th May 2016 - "Sir Charlie Stinky Socks: The Mummy's Gold" by Kristina Stephenson (Egmont Publishing)

Sometimes inspiration for stories can come from unexpected sources but how about a stinky old mummy's toe?
Kristina Stephenson's enduring pint-sized (and pongy footed) hero Sir Charlie Stinky Socks is back for his latest swashbuckling adventure, this time with an Egyptian flavour!

Sir Charlie is on a quest to rightfully restore a sackful of gold booty to Elfie Corrie.

It's a dangerous quest that will see Sir Charlie sweating it out amongst the dunes, with a couple of nefarious adversaries determined to stop our gallant little man and his noble steed but we all know that Sir Charlie is one smart little cookie. Will he triumph amongst the pyramids and mummies?

When Kristina visited Oxford we narrowly missed seeing her, but remembered to tell her all about the best bit of the Pitt Rivers Museum - The mummy's toe.

The museum hosts a rather awesome mummy:

Ooh mummy! (You can just about make out the Mummy's stinky old toe sticking out if you look carefully! Eugh!)
...and this must've set the creative cogs whirring and given Kristina the idea for Sir Charlie's latest (and we have to say, definitely greatest!) adventure.

We love this series (and you can find some of our older "Sir Charlie" reviews here). Definitely don't miss out on this brilliant book and if you look really, really carefully amongst the awesome illustrations and gigantic fold-out flaps, you may well spot a certain little girl blogger's initials tucked amongst the treasure (CGM - See if you can spot 'em!)

Charlotte's favourite bit: Spotting her initials on her favourite page spread

Daddy's favourite bit: Fun, inventive and brilliant - the Sir Charlie Stinky Socks series just gets better and better!
