ReadItDaddy's Second Book of the Week - Week Ending 8th July 2016 - "Natural World: A Visual Compendium of Wonders from Nature" by Amanda Wood, Mike Jolley and Owen Davey (Wide Eyed Editions)

Our Second Book of the Week oozes luxurious wonder across every page spread. The fabulous "Natural World"
When I was a kid, non-fiction books had the power to keep me enthralled well beyond the lifespan of most fiction titles. Back then I loved digging into big fat encyclopaedias, or voraciously gobbling up any book that was packed with facts or figures.

Nowadays there's a real renaissance going on in children's non fiction titles. Once again this generation of children are lucky enough to be seeing some of the most fantastic non-fiction titles, with a selection of publishers really pushing the envelope when it comes to sheer quality.

Wide Eyed Editions are one such publisher, and we have been wrapped up in their latest book - a big weighty tome full of the wonders of the natural world.

Combining the talents of Amanda Wood, Mike Jolley and ace illustrator Owen Davey, "Natural World" in the Curiositree series really is truly stunning on every level.

Our world is peeled like a gigantic glorious onion, revealing the layers of flora and fauna, of natural features and the ecosystems around the planet in which the most amazing creatures and plant life dwell.

I mean just look at the inside pages. Gaze in wonder...!

Learn all about world habitats, what does it take to survive in the harshest conditions?
Owen Davey's illustrations are just utterly, utterly brilliant in ever respect.

Whether they gallop, swim, scuttle or flutter, animals are on the move...!
And huge credit to Amanda and Mike who have made a wordy book utterly compelling with luxurious descriptions and facts.

Some very prickly customers! Best not to get close enough for a cuddle!
Both Charlotte and I were completely absorbed by this book, the sort of book that could easily last you all summer as you take in all the amazing things to see and explore.

Once again Wide Eyed Editions have a real winner on their hands, the sort of book that instantly catches your attention in the bookshop and the sort of book that deserves to win all sorts of awards.

Charlotte's best bit: All about the Aye Aye!

Daddy's favourite bit: So much to read, so much to see, a truly astonishing and amazing book that cries out to be in your collection. Do not miss it!
