Whoah! Now THIS is taking baking to the next level! Adelle Smith's first amazing book for children is the awesome "Baked - Amazing Bakes to Create with your Child"
I must admit I'm more of a 'dinners' man than any measure of a master baker, but I DO love dad-and-daughter time when Charlotte and I roll up our sleeves and get into the kitchen to bake up a storm.

Adelle Smith is obviously our kind of gal. She is the genius behind the "BKD" (Baked) phenomenon, creating an amazing business around some truly spectacular recipes and bakes specifically designed with children in mind.

Her first book is now published by Orchard Publishing and it's a true feast for the eyes, a rather daunting collection of amazing recipes and bakes but thankfully with lots of simple stuff for amateur bakers such as ourselves to get our teeth into.

"Baked" is beautifully presented and photographed, and Adelle imparts her expert wisdom on the methods and equipment you will need, as well as presenting some stunning recipes to make your party or occasion really pop!

Concentrating on indulging your sweet tooth, Adelle's vivacious joie de vivre explodes from every page, you can see she loves doing what she's doing and her kids seem to love it just as much too! We think young Cai is going to grow up to want to be an amazing baker just like mum!

We kept things simple with our own attempts at Adelle's very tasty sugar cookies which were nice and simple. Charlotte is demanding that we attempt the fabulous Happy Burger Cupcakes next though (who can resist a happy smiley little face like that!)

It's fair to say that there's a good range of recipes here that will truly tax your mettle in the kitchen. Some of these just look so incredibly amazing, time consuming and complicated that we think we'll only ever be able to drool at the pictures. Though as we said, there are recipes here that even hard-working never-at-home parents can squeeze into a weekend baking session.

A stunning book indeed! We're so glad to be seeing more and more brilliant recipe and cookbooks for kids and this really stands out as something spectacular.

Daddy's favourite recipe: I'm a sucker for anything pirate-shaped, love the idea of spraying Oreos gold with edible gold colouring to make huge pirate coins.
