The Koala Who Could by Rachel Bright and Jim Field (Orchard Books)

Koalas! Could there be a cuter Antipodean animal? Kevin the Koala is the star of "The Koala who Could" by Rachel Bright and Jim Field...
Koalas are cute, Koalas are cuddly (well sort of, I did cuddle one once and they pong to high heaven and their claws HURT!) and Koalas are quite happy when nestling in the leaves of a gum tree.

But change is a-coming and Kevin the Koala isn't too sure he likes change. This rhyming tale shows that sometimes change can be a good thing, in fact it can be a GREAT thing and even though Kevin is reluctant to embrace the changes happening around him, sometimes it's a good idea to just go with the flow, dude!

Rachel's rhymes are sublime (hey, that almost rhymes) and Jim Field's humorous animal illustrations are fab, fab, FAB! (We do like Jim a lot, he strikes us as the kind of guy you really want illustrating your animal book, he just knocks it out of the park with his hilarious animal characters, not least of all Kevin himself!)

King of the Staying Still Kings!
The best thing about this book is how it'll have you recalling lazy hot summer days in no time at all. Now most of you are contemplating going back to school, and of course the melancholy autumnal weather we're probably about to get, this is a sunshiney book full of fun!

Wouldn't you love to live here? We would!
"The Koala who Could" by Rachel Bright and Jim Field is out on September 8th, from Orchard Books.
