ReaditDaddy's Second Book of the Week - Week Ending 24th March 2017 - "The Street Beneath My Feet" by Charlotte Guillain and Yuval Zommer (Words and Pictures)

Our second Book of the Week poses a rather fascinating question to curious little kids - Do you know what's going on right beneath your feet right now?
"The Street Beneath My Feet" by Charlotte Guillain and Yuval Zommer is the sort of book we just love getting lost in.

Taking a slice through the very earth we stand on, it's a fascinating subterranean journey, stretching from city pavements and streets right out into the countryside - so no matter where you live you can be sure there's something amazing going on under where you're standing.

We love non-fiction books that positively beg to be read stretched out on the floor and this huge double-sided foldout book is just the right kind of format for inquisitive folk to explore in this way.

The foldout spreads switch between urban and countryside environments. Can you hazard a guess at where the water goes when you flush the loo? Or what lies under our city streets? Or out in the countryside, just how many amazing animals make their homes deep underground.

It's a truly stunning book, beautifully written, designed and illustrated and folds out to whopping size (I could see us wanting to pin this to the wall if we had enough wall space!)

Really stunning stuff from Charlotte and Yuval!

Charlotte's best bit: Exploring all the animal burrows, seeing what creatures dwell under the earth.

Daddy's favourite bit: Tons of brilliant facts to learn, amazing things to see and a really awesome foldout format that's sure to be a winner for home and class. Brill!

"The Street Beneath My Feet" by Charlotte Guillain and Yuval Zommer is out now, published by Words and Pictures.
