Poor Louie by Tony Fucile (Walker Books)

Poor, poor Louie. The cute little dog has gathered up all his things and is leaving home - but why? Find out inside...
Louie is the most adorable little pooch and is the apple of his "mum and dad's" eye.

The problem with getting used to being the centre of attention is what happens when you aren't any more.

Louie's parents have lots of friends with those strange pink gurgling creatures known as babies. Soon Louie begins to realise that something's not quite right at home. Dinner is late, Mum's tummy is growing huge and then one night it KICKS Louie as he snuggles up.

That can only mean one thing. One of those gurgling ear-pulling tail-chewing things is about to enter Louie's home too.

As the months pass, Mum and Dad start buying in things. Two of everything! This alarms Louie more than anything else and prompts his decision to run away from home.

But, dear reader, this story is a tale with a waggy happy end (which we won't spoil for you). A rather lovely story for kids (or dogs) who are about to become a big brother or sister for the first time.

"Poor Louie" by Tony Fucile is out now, published by Walker Books (kindly supplied for review).
